
LA PLATA, Md. — Firefighters and rescue personnel responded to a house fire on Pomfret Road near Livingston Road on May 12, 2024. No injuries were reported, though two dogs were found unharmed in the basement.
According to a 911 caller who reported the incident at approximately 7:32 p.m., a large plume of black smoke was visible in the area of Pomfret and Livingston. Upon their arrival, fire and rescue personnel found the one-story home showing smoke and fire.

Firefighters promptly initiated a heavy attack and managed to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. Charles County Animal Care Control was requested to assist with the care of the dogs.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. The Maryland State Fire Marshal has been requested to the scene to investigate.
