The Hollywood-produced movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” is about an American ambassador being killed during an attack at a U.S. compound in Libya as a security team of six men struggle to make sense out of the chaos.
The movie itself is moving as it stays true to not only the men who were involved, but the events that occurred. Leading the cast, John Krasinski ย does a phenomenal job emoting how it feels to be in a war zone in Libya with a family he is desperate to see back home in the United States . Playing the role of Jack Silva, the grit, guts and emotion that Silva endured while posted at the American embassy seemed authentic. Pure chaos and being outnumbered by Islamist extremists is a version of hell.
The cinematography is true to Michael Bay (director) form: beautiful, explosive and in your face. The way he shot the film kept audiences at the edge of their seats and reactive to every bomb and gun shot.
Based on the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack, this movie allowed Americans who rarely get to see what kind of terrain our soldiers are being placed in with some Hollywood edge really is. It was important to the filmmakers to try and capture what really occurred and how awful it was. The three surviving men helped make sure that this set, story and horror was true to form.
What to take away from this film should be the story of these brave men. It wasnโt necessarily a politically biased piece but that war is inevitable and ugly. To remember these men and their legacy was the point. It was excellent depiction of a true event that we should all remember.
