On Friday, July 8, 2011, at approximately 6:50 pm, the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad (Co. 7) and other companies from Calvert, St. Mary and Charles Counties responded to a working house fire on Bond Street, in the St. Leonard Shores development.
As the engine from St. Leonard arrived on the scene, they reported fire showing from the roof. Deputy Chief 2B from Prince Frederick was the first arriving Chief Officer and had command of the fire scene.
Chief requesting a working fire/2nd alarm was dispatched after arriving on the scene. It was moderate to heavy raining at the time during the call.
The homeowners were not home at the time and Red Cross and others are working to help and make contact with them.
The Fire Marshall was requested for investigation on the cause of the fire and no known status on that report at this time.
