LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park house fire displaced two adults and two children Sunday morning, prompting a large fire and EMS response.

The fire was reported around 6:59 a.m. on June 21, 2026, in the 23100 block of Mirfield Lane.

Emergency crews were dispatched for a residential structure fire. Initial dispatch information indicated the front of a two-story house was on fire.

Additional callers reported the home was fully engulfed, with fire extending up the side of the house.

Firefighters from St. Mary’s County and surrounding departments responded to the scene, including engine, truck, tanker, rescue squad, ambulance and command units.

Crews opened up walls on the second floor while working to check for fire extension. Fire on the first floor was reported out around 8:25 a.m., though crews remained on the scene.

SMECO was requested to secure power to the home, and animal control was also requested to the scene.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist two adults and two children displaced by the fire. No injuries have been reported.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified and will continue investigating the cause of the fire.
