At 2:44 a.m. April 23, TFC Linger of the Leonardtown barrack stopped a vehicle for speeding, 36 mph in a 30 mph zone, on Route 242 and Route 5 in Morganza.
Upon contact with the driver, James Michael Nelson, 30, of Chaptico, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected.
After attempting the field sobriety tests, Nelson was arrested for DUI. A search of the vehicle, incident to arrest, was conducted.
A cellophane bag, containing marijuana, was located under the driver seat.
Nelson was charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
