At 4 p.m. Nov. 7, TFC A. Rossignol of the Leonardtown barracks responded to Yorktown Road, Lexington Park, for a reported assault.
The victim, a 9-year-old male, said that he and his friend, 8, were playing in the 8-year-old room when the eight year old asked if he wanted to see a knife.
The 8-year-old took out a small folding pocket knife from inside his lunch box and then stabbed the other boy in the wrist, police say.
The 9-year-old was wearing a pair of large orange foam gloves and the knife went through the gloves and far enough into the wrist to fracture a small bone.
The juveniles put Band-Aids on the wrist to stop the bleeding and the 9-year-old left and returned home.
Neither kid told their parents about the incident because they feared they would get in trouble. The 9-year-old went shopping with family when the one observed that the juvenile was having trouble lifting his arm. He was then taken to the hospital where his hand was x-rayed and the fracture was discovered.
The family member wanted charges placed against the 8-year-old and after consultation with the Stateโs Attorneyโs office charges were placed against the boy.ย The 8-year-old was brought to the Leonardtown barracks, processed and released to his father pending disposition by Juvenile Justice Authorities.
