HOLLYWOOD, Md. — We are receiving reports that a child was injured as a result of a dog bite earlier this evening.
At approximately 6:17 p.m. on January 13, first responders were called to the scene on Mill Pond Road in Hollywood for reports that a child had been bit by a family dog.
Upon arrival, crews located the toddler who had obvious lacerations to its head and face. The dog had been captured by family members and restrained.
Although there was some apparent bleeding, the child was still conscious, alert and breathing.
Soon after arriving, EMS personnel on the scene made the determination that the child was in need of additional medical attention.
A helicopter from the Maryland State Police Aviation was requested to make a transport to a nearby trauma center with what has been deemed non-life-threatening injuries. The landing zone was set at one of the airport’s hangars.
This is a developing story. We will continue to provide additional details as they come available.
