OWINGS, Md. – An 18-year-old man from Upper Marlboro, MD, was arrested on October 30 after allegedly violating a trespassing order previously issued that same day. Miracle Favour Momnougui was taken into custody after deputies discovered him hiding in the basement of a residence on Marcellas Drive in Owings, despite being warned by law enforcement not to return to the property.
The incident unfolded earlier in the day when Calvert County officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving Momnougui and a 17-year-old female resident. The Maryland State Police, who were already on scene, issued a no-trespass notice to Momnougui, instructing him to stay away from the residence. Momnougui, who had initially assured officers that he would not return and agreed to avoid further trouble, was provided a ride by officers to a location where he could arrange transportation back to his home in Upper Marlboro.
However, later that evening, a neighbor reported to the Calvert County Control Center that Momnougui had returned to the Marcellas Drive residence. Sgt. Robshaw arrived on the scene around 9:42 p.m. and spoke to the 17-year-old resident, who initially stated that Momnougui was not there and granted permission for officers to search the property. During the search, Sgt. Robshaw informed the resident that a witness had reported seeing Momnougui inside the house and assured her that they would locate him if he was indeed present.
As officers searched the property, they heard a voice coming from the basement. Upon investigation, they confirmed it was Momnougui, contradicting the earlier statement provided by the resident. Momnougui was found in possession of the original trespassing notice issued to him earlier by Maryland State Police, which he carried in his front pocket. Despite his pleas for officers to release him and his repeated assurances that he would not return to the property, Momnougui was arrested for trespassing.
Following his arrest, Momnougui was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was released to correctional staff. He was formally charged with trespassing, an offense that, in Maryland, can carry a penalty of up to 90 days in jail and/or a fine of $500.
