HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — Calvert County emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon to a serious motor‑vehicle collision on northbound Maryland Route 4 (MD-4) near the 6200 block of Solomons Island Road, in front of the China King restaurant in Huntingtown.
The crash was dispatched at 1:13 p.m. on May 16, as an auto accident, with multiple 911 callers reporting a rollover involving three vehicles. One witness told dispatchers the collision was “hard‑hit” and that a tire flew across the roadway, indicating a significant impact. Another caller reported a vehicle resting on its side.
Injuries were unknown at the time of dispatch. No fire or additional hazards were initially reported. Once on scene, emergency crews confirmed one person was trapped, with at least four to five other patients, including two juveniles. A landing zone was set up at the nearby Chesapeake Church, one patient with serious injuries was flown to a local shock trauma center. Two other injured patients were transported to Calvert Health in Prince Frederick.
Numerous emergency units from Calvert County were assigned to the incident which remains under investigation.
