ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A new programming initiative focused on faith and spirituality will debut at this year’s Annapolis Film Festival, with a special screening of “The King of Kings” scheduled for Saturday, March 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Maryland Hall Main Auditorium.

The film marks the launch of The Faith Experience, a new series sponsored by the Brian & Patricia Giese Foundation that aims to explore the role of belief in personal and communal storytelling. The 2025 festival, now in its 13th year, is presented in partnership with the Annapolis Film Society and the Brian & Patricia Giese Foundation.

An animated collaboration between the United States and South Korea, “The King of Kings” is distributed by Angel Studios and produced by MOFAC. It features a voice cast that includes Forrest Whitaker, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman and Kenneth Branagh. The film tells the story of Charles Dickens and his imaginative son, Walter. After a disruptive outburst during one of Dickens’ readings, the famed author shares the story of Jesus Christ with his son in hopes of reconnecting. As the story unfolds, the two begin to forge a deeper bond through the power of storytelling.

Festival organizers describe the film as “spectacular animation that is sure to capture the imagination of children and adults alike.”

Admission to the screening is free for youth ages 17 and under. Adult tickets are $20. Families are encouraged to RSVP for free youth tickets in advance to ensure seating.

“We’re thrilled to be the only festival in America to screen this film from Angel Studios before its Easter release,” said Patti White, Annapolis Film Festival cofounder and director. “We are honored to host this meaningful screening as part of this year’s festival.”

Brian Giese added that the foundation is “proud to lead the effort in bringing faith-inspired programming to the Annapolis community, using the power of film to connect through the Annapolis Film Festival.”
