PORT TOBACCO, Md. — The restaurant formerly known as Port Tobacco Marina and Restaurant is entering the season with a shorter name and renovations ahead of its reopening. During the June 12 meeting of the Charles County Board of License Commissioners, the board approved a request to change the trade name to Port Tobacco Restaurant to help clarify that the business is separate from the marina.
Attorney David Martinez, representing the establishment at 7536 Shirley Blvd., said the change was necessary to eliminate confusion between the restaurant and the marina, which have always operated independently.
Renovations are underway inside the restaurant, including equipment upgrades and new furniture expected to arrive this week. While the business initially aimed to reopen by now, the improvements have delayed its opening.
Representatives said they hope to reopen by the end of June, pending final preparations.
Under the Port Tobacco Marina and Restaurant name, the restaurant was known for its waterfront dining, live music and community events that drew regular crowds throughout the warmer months.
The June 12 meeting of the Charles County Board of License Commissioners is available to watch on CCGTV.
