CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Whether you paint, play music, design murals or simply enjoy strolling past public art, Charles County wants your voice to help shape its cultural future. Charles County Recreation, Parks and Tourism is launching a Public Arts and Cultural Master Plan, and residents are invited to take part through a series of community meetings in October.
The plan is designed to enrich the county’s vision for public art and establish a long-term strategy for installations and cultural projects. It will identify priorities, themes and potential long-range projects while setting principles for how public art can be integrated into local architecture, gathering places and natural landscapes.
Meeting Schedule:
- Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025 — Charles County Public Library, Potomac Branch (Indian Head), 6 to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 — Waldorf Senior & Recreational Center, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 — Charles County Government Building, La Plata, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In addition to the in-person events, an online survey will open on Sept. 25 at 5 p.m. for residents who are unable to attend. Officials said feedback from both the meetings and survey will guide the plan’s development.
County leaders emphasized that participation is open to anyone who creates art, supports the arts or simply enjoys cultural experiences.
