NEWBURG, Md. — The Maryland Veterans Memorial Museum in Newburg will receive a $250,000 state capital grant for expansion and facility improvements after approval by the Maryland Board of Public Works on May 20.

The board approved the funding as part of its Capital Grants and Loans agenda at the State House in Annapolis. The grant is funded through the Maryland Consolidated Capital Bond Loan of 2022 and requires no local match.

The grant will help fund expansion and improvements at the museum as part of a $400,000 project, with the remaining $150,000 identified as a local cost. Board documents indicate the project could include a building addition featuring a second entrance, conference room, additional memorabilia space and a relocated gift shop.

Under the grant terms, the recipient must coordinate with the Maryland Historical Trust and convey a perpetual preservation easement in accordance with enabling legislation. Procurement and contract documentation must also be submitted to the Department of General Services for eligibility review.
