WALDORF, Md. — An Upper Marlboro man has been issued a summons after a Waldorf resident reported paying a $6,000 deposit for a window installation project that was never completed, according to charging documents.
Yuri Sanchez, 40, of Upper Marlboro, is charged in Charles County District Court with theft of $1,500 to under $25,000.
According to court documents, the alleged theft stems from a September 2025 agreement for Sanchez to install new windows at a home in Waldorf. The homeowner reported giving Sanchez a $6,000 deposit for the project.
The application for charges states Sanchez cashed the checks provided to him on Sept. 15, 2025, at Crystal Jewelry in Clinton. Over the following months, the homeowner reported making several attempts to contact Sanchez about the project.
Charging documents state Sanchez repeatedly told the homeowner the materials were on back order and later that the manufacturer had been slow. By early December, the homeowner requested a refund.
According to the application, Sanchez agreed to provide a refund but had not returned the money by Dec. 10. The homeowner reported having a signed contract and canceled checks connected to the payment.
The homeowner later spoke with Sanchez on Dec. 11, according to charging documents. During that conversation, Sanchez allegedly admitted he needed the money and cashed the checks at a jeweler instead of a bank.
Court documents state Sanchez agreed to make a partial payment of $4000 on Dec. 16 and work on the remaining balance, but no payment was received. The homeowner also reported paying interest on a loan taken out for the $6,000 deposit.
The application states the homeowner continued trying to reach Sanchez monthly. In a Feb. 3 text message, Sanchez allegedly wrote that Christians are prohibited from taking each other to court and that others had tried to take him down but he was still standing “by the grace of God.”
A summons was issued for Sanchez on May 13, 2026.
A preliminary inquiry hearing is set for June 29, 2026, in Charles District Court.
