CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — An Avenue man was charged after a St. Mary’s County sheriff’s deputy reported he stood in front of a marked patrol vehicle while the deputy was trying to investigate a hit-and-run crash at Golden Beach Park and Ride, according to court documents.
Jeremiah Robert Jameson, 19, of Avenue, is charged with obstructing and hindering.
The charge stems from an incident reported May 20, 2026, at Golden Beach Park and Ride in Charlotte Hall, according to the statement of probable cause.
A St. Mary’s County sheriff’s deputy reported responding to the park and ride for a hit-and-run accident. While in the area, the deputy observed a person on a green dirt bike involved in the crash and activated emergency lights on a marked patrol vehicle.
Court documents state the deputy turned around to follow the dirt bike and determine where it was going. Jameson then allegedly walked down the center of the parking aisle and stood in front of the patrol vehicle.
The deputy reported yelling at Jameson and trying to continue the investigation. The deputy activated the cruiser’s siren to direct Jameson to move, and Jameson moved slightly but remained near the passenger-side front corner of the patrol vehicle, throwing his hands in the air.
The charging document states Jameson eventually moved far enough away for the deputy to continue the investigation safely. After the deputy parked to speak with the person in the vehicle that had been struck, Jameson began walking toward the deputy’s location.
Jameson was advised to stay back so the deputy could continue the investigation, and he complied at that point, according to court documents.
Court records show Jameson was released on his own recognizance on May 21.
A trial scheduling hearing is set for July 7, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
