LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A Hollywood man was charged after investigators linked him to a series of alleged vehicle break-ins and a burglary at Brüdergarten in Shepherd’s Old Field Market, where alcohol was stolen and cash registers were damaged, according to court documents.
Nathaniel Warren Shaklee, 19, of Hollywood, is charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary of a storehouse, eight counts of rogue and vagabond, theft under $100, theft of $100 to under $1,500, and theft scheme of $1,500 to under $25,000.
The charges stem from multiple incidents reported in the Leonardtown area between May 12 and May 14, 2026, according to the statement of probable cause.
Court documents state two suspects attempted to break into a Ford F-150 parked in Leonardtown around 2:35 a.m. May 12 but were unable to get inside. They then traveled to another location, where they allegedly entered multiple vehicles before breaking into a Kia Optima and stealing a case containing a white and orange .22-caliber rifle, accessories, two magazines, 13 rounds of ammunition and a hard case valued at $547.
The two suspects were later located, and a foot chase followed, according to charging documents. They fled into a wooded area and were not found.
On May 14, between midnight and 12:05 a.m., investigators reported that two suspects attempted to enter a Ford Explorer parked in Hollywood. The vehicle’s alarm sounded, and a witness saw suspects matching the general description from previous burglaries running away from the vehicle, according to court documents.
While investigating that attempted burglary, investigators learned the same suspects had entered a 2024 Ford Explorer parked in Leonardtown around 12:32 a.m., according to the statement of probable cause.
Later that morning, between about 1:07 a.m. and 1:15 a.m., two suspects broke into Brüdergarten, located in Shepherd’s Old Field Market in Leonardtown, according to charging documents. Investigators wrote that the front door was locked, and the suspects jumped a fence to the rear of the business before entering through an unsecured rear door.
Court documents state the cash registers were damaged and three bottles of alcohol were stolen. The stolen alcohol included a bottle of Don Q Rum, a bottle of Crown Royal and a bottle of Scott’s Vodka, with a total value of $82.
Video footage from the business allegedly showed Shaklee attempting to open the registers before going to the shelves where alcohol was stored, according to charging documents.
The suspects then continued to another area of Leonardtown, where investigators reported they attempted to enter multiple vehicles on Goddard Street between about 1:30 a.m. and 1:49 a.m. They allegedly entered a Ford Econoline RV and fled when the owner came outside.
Court documents state the suspects continued to another location in Leonardtown and entered a Hyundai Santa Fe. Investigators reported $1,200 in cash was stolen from a money bag left in the vehicle’s center console.
Video footage from that incident allegedly corroborated that Shaklee, who had entered the Hyundai, matched the same description as a suspect in the earlier incidents, according to charging documents.
Investigators also linked Shaklee to an earlier vehicle burglary after stolen headphones were found at Leonardtown High School on May 20, according to court documents. The headphones had not yet been reported stolen, but the owner later provided video footage of the May 13 incident. Court documents state the footage showed Shaklee wearing the same general clothing and leaving the victim’s driveway. The headphones were valued at about $300.
The total value of stolen items was listed at $2,047.79, according to the charging document.
Investigators later identified Shaklee through an MVA photo, and court documents state the headphones had been sold for $80. Investigators also located a vehicle stop from March 2026 involving a GMC SUV registered to the owner of Shaklee’s listed residence.
On May 21, investigators obtained a search-and-seizure warrant for Shaklee’s residence and person. The warrant was signed by Judge Lorenzini and executed the same day, according to court documents.
During the search, investigators reported finding a black ski mask, a black North Face hooded jacket, a pair of North Face gloves and a pair of Hey Dude-style shoes in Shaklee’s bedroom.
Court documents state Shaklee later admitted during a post-Miranda interview to the burglary at Brüdergarten and multiple vehicle burglaries in the Leonardtown area.
Court records show Shaklee was initially held without bond on May 21. A bail review hearing was held May 22 before Judge Robert B. Riddle in St. Mary’s District Court, where Shaklee was released on his own recognizance.
Court information provided lists probable cause for the second-degree burglary count, fourth-degree burglary count, one rogue and vagabond count and theft under $100. The charging document also lists additional rogue and vagabond counts, theft of $100 to under $1,500 and theft scheme of $1,500 to under $25,000.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 18, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
