HUNTINGTOWN, Md. – Calvert County emergency crews responded Sunday morning to a reported trailer fire in the 5700 block of Huntingtown Road.

The call was received at 8:08 a.m. on May 31, with the reporting party stating that flames were visible from the front of a single‑wide mobile home. An off-duty Prince George’s Police Officer, who was on scene made the 911 call and advised that the home appeared occupied and noted bowls of cat food outside. Attempts to call out to potential occupants were unsuccessful, and it was unknown if anyone was trapped.

The incident was dispatched as a Mobile Home/House Trailer Fire, with units from Calvert County Emergency Medical Service, Charles County, and additional mutual‑aid partners alerted.

Maryland State Police and Prince George’s County officials were notified. The caller’s husband, identified as a fire marshal, was reported on scene, and the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal’s Office was also notified. A road closure was implemented to support fire operations. Firefighters

The fire was extinguished without injuries, though two cats perished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
