CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — One of Calvert County’s most anticipated projects is underway. Demolition began last week on the old Chesapeake Beach Water Park as the town prepares for the new and improved park.
The town shared a Public Works update in an email, saying demolition has begun and there is a temporary fence along Gordon Stinnett Avenue, closing the adjacent sidewalk and a portion of the parking lot. Anyone visiting the Northeast Community Center should use the second parking lot entrance, as the first entrance is now closed.
The Water Park is scheduled to open for the 2027 season. In addition to beginning the project on the ground, the Town Council proposed the admission rates for the 2027 season at its June 9 meeting.
Admission rates in the water park’s final season were frequently cited by residents as part of the reason for the park’s closure. Admission rates neared $100 for a day pass for out-of-town residents, even those in Calvert County.
For 2027, the Town Council proposed Chesapeake Beach residents will pay between $20 and $25 per person, depending on the resident’s height and the day of the week. Calvert County residents will pay between $31 and $39, depending on height and day of the week, and everyone else will pay general admission rates between $45 and $55.
Season ticket prices are as follows:
- Chesapeake Beach resident: $159
- Calvert County resident: $199
- Out-of-county resident: $299
- Chesapeake Beach family pass (4): $575
- Calvert County resident family pass (4): $715
Evans wrote in an email to The BayNet that the water park has not received any money from the county for the project, which explains the price discrepancies. It is town-funded and operated and is regularly cited by Town Council members as an important public good for the town.
These admission rates are not final and will be voted on at a later date.
