OWINGS, Md. — Fire and EMS crews responded Tuesday morning to a reported vehicle fire near Southern Maryland Boulevard and Bright Lane in Owings.
The call was dispatched around 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2026, for a minivan reportedly on fire along southbound Southern Maryland Boulevard just before Bright Lane.
Initial dispatch information indicated a passerby reported a light green minivan in floodwater and raised concern that someone could be trapped inside.
Crews arrived and confirmed there were no occupants inside the vehicle.
The fire was brought under control within minutes of firefighters arriving on the scene.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
