LA PLATA, Md. — A La Plata man is facing a felony theft charge after a transport operator alleged he failed to pay more than $6,400 for commercial trucking and related services, according to Charles County court documents. The operator alleged the man continued requesting services for nearly two months while acknowledging that money was owed.
Harry Void, of La Plata, was charged with one felony count of theft valued at $1,500 to less than $25,000.
The charge was filed Aug. 30 in the District Court for Charles County through an application for a statement of charges.
According to the charging application, the complainant alleged he had a working relationship with Void that began around November 2024. The conduct underlying the criminal charge allegedly occurred between June 29 and Aug. 23, 2025.
The application states that beginning around June 29, Void allegedly continued requesting and accepting compensated services from the complainant.
Those services allegedly included commercial truck driving, transportation, delivery, vehicle maintenance and upkeep, and related operational services.
According to the charging documents, the complainant continued providing the requested work through Aug. 23 while compensation allegedly remained outstanding.
The application states that at approximately 6:38 a.m. June 28, Void allegedly acknowledged owing the complainant money and asked whether he could wait for payment.
The document describes several additional communications in which Void allegedly discussed the unpaid compensation.
The complainant alleged Void repeatedly represented that payment would be made while compensation for the services remained outstanding, according to court documents.
On Aug. 31, according to the application, Void was provided written notice concerning the allegedly unpaid compensation.
The application further states that on Sept. 1, Void allegedly acknowledged that he owed the complainant money and said he would pay “sooner rather than later.”
The complainant alleged that $6,420.55 remained unpaid, according to the application.
Court records show Void is charged with theft valued at $1,500 to less than $25,000, a felony.
A criminal summons was served Sept. 2, 2026.
A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Oct. 19, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
