The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 11pm Friday until 1pm on Saturday as a result of a winter blast that will hit the region overinght.  Some areas are already beginning to feel the effects.  The worst conditions are expected in areas further north and west.

There are reports of a dusting of snow already in the Lexington Park and Leonardtown areas.  Readers are reporting freezing rain in Great Mills and a mix of snow and sleet in St Inigoes.  TheBAYNET can confirm snow accumulating in Waldorf and sticking to the roads there.  As of 11:45pm, a little more than a dusting has fallen in Waldorf with the snowfall beginning to intensify.  

Road conditions have worsened considerably across the region over the past hour, and there are reports from readers of an accident near St. Leonard.  There are also reports of an accident in Waldorf near Westlake High School.

* TEMPERATURES…LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT IN THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S. HIGHS SATURDAY IN THE UPPER 30S AND LOWER 40S.

* WINDS…EAST 5 TO 10 MPH BECOMING NORTH SATURDAY

* IMPACTS…WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL CAUSE SLIPPERY TRAVELING CONDITIONS LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. ICE WILL ACCUMULATE ON TREES AND POWERLINES.
