MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A man is facing drug charges after deputies responded to a reported trespassing incident at a Wawa in Mechanicsville and discovered suspected cocaine and paraphernalia, according to court records.

Michael Anthony Hyde, 33, of an unknown hometown, was arrested April 23, 2026, following the early morning incident at the Wawa on Three Notch Road.

According to the statement of probable cause, a deputy responded to the store around 12:51 a.m. for a report of trespassing and made contact with Hyde, who matched the description provided by an employee.

During the encounter, authorities learned Hyde was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. He was taken into custody at the scene.

Hyde is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on a $1,000 unsecured personal bond following his arrest.

Under Maryland law, possession of cocaine carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. Possession of drug paraphernalia carries a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $500.

A hearing is set for June 11, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
