Marfa, Texas – U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has died, sources in Texas have confirmed.ย 

Scalia, who was 79, was pronounced dead Saturday morning, Feb. 13 at a RANCH in Marfa, Texas.

The FBI, U.S. Marshal’s Service and Presidio County Sheriff’s Office are the agencies actively investigating Scalia’s unattended death.

There are reports Scalia died of natural causes.

Scalia was nominated for the Supreme Court 30 years ago by President Ronald Reagan.

Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on the death of Antonin Scalia, associate justice of the United States Supreme Court.

For more than three decades, Justice Antonin Scalia devoted himself to the rule of law and public service at the highest levels. Whether you agreed or disagreed with his decisions, there is no debate about Justice Scalia’s profound impact on the Supreme Court. He served his country with honor.

โ€œSupreme Court decisions affect every person in our Nation. It is for this reason that I was pleased to hear that President Obama will nominate a successor for the High Court. The process of Advice and Consent for nominees to the United States Supreme Court is one of the Senate’s core constitutional responsibilities and should not be delayed.โ€

Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-MD) issued the following statement on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia:
