LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Join us in celebrating a milestone today: 40 years since the founding of Hospice of St. Mary’s!

Emphasizing quality-of-life care for those with a life-threatening illness, Hospice was founded in 1981 by Betsy Barley with the support of family and friends. The first 20 individuals completed a volunteer program the following year. Hospice became a department of St. Maryโ€™s Hospital in 1998 and, nine years later, grew to include the Hospice House of St. Maryโ€™sโ€”a six-bed facility in Callaway made possible through tremendous community support.

Itโ€™s tough to say how many lives the Hospice team has touched in four decadesโ€”and how many lives have touched our own. If Hospice has made a difference for your family, please join us in sharing a memory or well wishes in the comments!

Through the challenges of #COVID19, community donations are what help allow Hospice to continue providing exemplary care regardless of a familyโ€™s ability to pay. Visit https://bit.ly/2Yhcp7m or call 301-994-3023 to learn more.
