St. Maryโ€™s County Judge of the Orphanโ€™s Court Charles โ€œJenksโ€ Mattingly, III of Hollywood passed away Monday. Mattingly was elected to the position in November of 2006 and re-elected in 2010. He was a retired firefighter at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Mattingly, 68, served a long and distinguished career spanning more than 40 years as a volunteer with the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, including past president and chief and served as its current chaplain. Mattingly served as president of the Maryland State Firemenโ€™s Association from 2001 to 2002. His passing at 6:04 p.m. Monday is noted on the associationโ€™s website today. He also was a member of the Hollywood Optimist Club and Knights of Columbus.
Mattinglyโ€™s passing was also noted Tuesday morning by St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner Todd Morgan at the beginning of their regular meeting.
โ€œJenksโ€ Mattinglyโ€™s wife Catherine Anne died on July 1, 2010.
