There’s time off, family, turkey and merriment this week as Thanksgiving arrives. By the weekend many Christmas trees will be already twinkling from front windows. It’s a season of parties and indulgence, which often includes drinking.

So far this year there have been 735 DUI arrests in Calvert County alone. 68 of those arrests were young drivers (under the age of 21).

22 people were killed this year in accidents on Calvert’s roads. Half of those fatalities involved a drug or alcohol impaired driver.

The release of these composite statistics today serves as a timely reminder to Southern Marylanders – don’t drink and drive.
