On July 17, Deputy Campbell responded to a check the welfare call on Old Village Road and Bet Lane in Mechanicsville. Initial reports indicated an intoxicated subject was dancing in the middle of the roadway.
Upon arrival Deputy Campbell observed Daniel Elam Ross, 20 of no fixed address standing in the middle of the southbound lane of Old Village Road causing a traffic hazard. Ross was holding an alcoholic beverage and staggering as he stood in the roadway.
Deputy Campbell asked Ross to pour the beverage out and step out of the traffic lane. Another individual on the scene trying assist offered Ross a sober ride home. Ross refused the ride, ignored the deputy’s direction and continued to stagger in the roadway. Ross became more aggressive with the deputy. His disorderly behavior drew the attention of others who stopped to watch the activity. Ross was arrested for disorderly conduct.
