On April 23 at 10:32 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Sugar Mill Court in Waldorf, after receiving a call that two men were fighting in front of a house.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, a 35-year-old male, lying unconscious in the yard. He was transported to a hospital where he was admitted with non life-threatening injuries. The suspect had already fled the scene.
Investigation revealed the victim and suspect are acquaintances and agreed to meet at the dead end of the street. For reasons that are unclear, the suspect assaulted the victim and attacked him with a knife. The victim sustained lacerations and head trauma. On April 27, detectives arrested Dewayne Alphonso Ford, Jr., 19, of Waldorf, and charged him with first-degree assault.
Detective G. Higgs is investigating.
