PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Huntingtown man is facing serious drug charges after deputies discovered cocaine following a traffic stop in Prince Frederick on April 23, 2026.
Leonard Anothy Long, 56, of Huntingtown, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to court documents.
According to the report, a deputy observed a 1991 Ford F-150 traveling on Dares Beach Road before initiating a traffic stop after the vehicle failed to immediately yield and continued driving for a short distance before stopping at a gas station on Solomons Island Road.
During the stop, deputies made contact with the driver and Long, who was identified as the passenger. A K-9 unit responded to the scene and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, providing probable cause for a search.
During the investigation, deputies located a large amount of cash on Long, totaling more than $400 in $20 bills, which officers noted is consistent with drug-related transactions. Further search of the vehicle revealed a napkin containing a white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine.
Authorities reported that after Long was placed into a patrol vehicle, additional suspected cocaine was discovered hidden in the rear compartment where he had been seated. The substance was later weighed at approximately 3.7 grams, consistent with what is commonly referred to as an “eight-ball.”
Investigators noted that the quantity and packaging were consistent with distribution rather than personal use.
Long was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
He later appeared before Judge Karen Friedman for a bond review hearing on April 24, 2026, where he was initially held on a $5,000 bond before being released on his own recognizance.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in Calvert District Court, Courtroom 1.
Under Maryland law, possession with intent to distribute narcotics carries a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison and significant fines.

Failed to yield ? You mean a deputy observed a black man driving an old truck and initiated a traffic stop and called in a canine unit lol
Large amount of cash, $400.00. Where in the US is that big money. You found the drugs, that was great. Good work and loss of credibility at the same time.
Driver…B/W… unknown but read into it what you will.
$400 in $20 bills ( not unheard of…) the popo was out looking for infractions…they got one.
Sheeeesh a Long line here:
Jeffrie Long: our famous “take those words outta your mouth” Delegate
Lennox Long: County employee supervisor speeding down Rt231 with a loaded gun
I wonder; any relationship?
$400 is a large amount of cash? Failed to yield do he called a canine unit?? Powdery substance in a napkin??? This whole arrest sounds suspicious????
If you remember I wrote to you a few weeks back and ask you to tell the full story with truth and you didn’t even have enough care to respond back. That will be my story and trust me if I don’t hear from you when a response to my previous request it will cause harm to your business with readers etc etc etc. Lots and Lots of people follow me and I have what I’m doing very seriously. PLEASE don’t tell me you never received the request I already know that you did.
Wow! This couldn’t sound more like a setup and racist. So why was he pulled over besides DWB (driving while black).

So $400.00 in $20.00 bills, is an indication of known drug activities & a large amount of money? Please tell me there is a typo in this report somewhere?
Why was a k9 called for a traffic stop? $400 in 20s 20 20s is a lot of money? It’s giving bs here! Maryland need to stop being so Racially motivated to make arrests!
I smell BS. You observed him driving, but did not cite a reason for the stop. Then they were mad he didnt immediately stop (most of my life cops have said you can slow down and pull over somewhere you feel safe). Then you called K-9 and found an 8-ball. Ive watched enough cop shows to know that isnt a large amount. Sounds like a setup or bad reporting. Or both!
400 dollars is a lot money? I keep 20s and 10s on me as I don’t use credit cards…. Only when traveling.
And what was the probable cause to stop?
I smell racism!
