At 5:43 p.m. on April 10, Charles County Sheriffโs officers responded to Wade Elementary School, located at 2300 Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf, for the report of a fight.
A 16-year-old Waldorf boy on the scene told Officer E. Webster that he had been robbed.
Officer Webster located two suspects behind the school and attempted to detain them. One of the boys fled. The other struggled with Officer Webster. During the struggle, theย teen scratched the officer and threatened to bite him. The officerโs badge was also broken. A citizen who witnessed the struggle stopped to help. Officer Webster eventually subdued the boy. He arrested the suspect, a 16-year-old southeast Washington, D.C., resident, and transported him to Cheltenham Youth Facility.
Further investigation into the original call for service revealed the victim was not robbed but a theft had occurred. The boy was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, theft of property valued at less than $500 and destruction of property valued at less than $500.ย
A short time later, police located the suspect who fled when approached by Officer Webster, as well as a third suspect. They identified them as a 15-year-old Bowie boy and a 15-year-old Waldorf boy.
They were detained and released to their parents.
