UPDATE – 37-Year-Old Chesapeake Beach Woman Killed In Route 260 Crash

OWINGS, Md. — One person has died following a serious single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Calvert County.

The incident was reported around 9:07 p.m. on April 14, 2026, on eastbound Maryland Route 260 (Chesapeake Beach Road) near the East Mt. Harmony Road overpass.

Emergency personnel responded to find a single SUV that had left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area. Initial reports indicated the vehicle was on its side, with the occupant trapped inside and suffering significant injuries.

First responders worked to access the victim, who was reported to be unresponsive at the scene.

Despite life-saving efforts, EMS pronounced the occupant dead at 9:17 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Motorists should expect an extended road closure in the area as authorities conduct a reconstruction investigation.
