UPDATE: The fire is being accessed from the 27000 block of Three Notch Road. Use caution in the area and lookout for first responders around the scene.

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — We are receiving reports that firefighters are responding to a large fire from a barn that is threatening at least one residence.

At approximately 8:17 p.m. on December 28, first responders were called to the scene in the 31000 block of Point Lookout Road, in the area of Pinewood Lane for the reported fire. Callers advised that the barn, with unknown contents, was fully engulfed in flames and was spreading into the woods and threatening nearby residences.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the barn fully engulfed in flames. Not long after arriving, the barn collapsed. There are no known injuries at this time.

As of 8:30 p.m., crews are still working to contain the fire. Expect a large fire apparatus presence off of the southbound side of Three Notch Road and off of Point Lookout Road.
