PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – As confirmed by Calvert County’s “What’s Going Where” map, a 19,000-square-foot ALDI, and several other retail stores are making their way to Armory Square.

According to a site plan from Inside Commercial Real Estate Companies, other businesses coming to the development include Dash In, 15,894-square-foot Michaels, Ace Hardware, Jersey Mike’s, and more. However, these aren’t confirmed yet on the County’s website.

The site, which is the former home to Calvert Middle School, is located at 429 Solomons Island Rd, Prince Frederick.

  1. ANOTHER ACE? Why can’t we have a Lowes or Home Depot in Calvert? Is a local ACE franchise owner in the BOCC, planning or economic development commissions pocket? We need options.

    1. We don’t need a Lowe’s or Home Depot, it will just bring more and more looters into the area

  2. More Traffic lights on MD 4 through Prince Frederick? Not the correct way to control traffic flow. All current lights are still causing backups during evening rush even after the widening. Why can’t all shopping center traffic be routed along Armory Road to existing signalized intersections. I thought that was the intention of all these “loop roads”. Are the developers getting their way over the rest of the community? If they cannot get an entrance off main line 4 they won’t build? Less traffic headaches might be worth less stores.

  3. Looks like Prince Frederick is becoming another Waldorf, oh boy, sarcasm. Here comes more traffic, crime and noise.

    1. Amen And to think in 5-10 years people will think that these were the good old daze!! Traffic Traffic Traffic Welcome to Waldorf. Good job republican commissioners in keeping calvert country.

    2. LOL, agreed. All of these “Another Waldorf” comments are ridiculous… The only thing I think they should re-think is the access, they should not add the extra light, use the intersections before and after to allow access to Dares Beach road and Armory road to enter from the backside. No need to add another light for southbound access.

  4. Another reason I refuse to travel through prince frederick, traffic is already bad enough, this will only make it worse

  5. Ten years ago, it was a 20-minute drive from PF to bring the kids to see their grandparents in Dunkirk. Now it’s 30. And this will just add more to that town. As well as to the amount of time it takes travel to work. Takes away more time from our families, for businesses we don’t even need. We already have fast food, places to go for crafts (do the commissioners forget about Amazon?), hardware stores, gas/convenience, and ice cream shops. I will concede that ALDI is definitely a help, as you can’t beat the prices there. But that could have been built standalone and saved everyone all of these traffic headaches. Clearly not looking out for the best interests of the families here, as more time is wasted in traffic, and our tax dollars are thrown into needless projects.
