
LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A patient en route to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Chingville Road was involved in a second emergency Monday, March 31, 2025, when the ambulance transporting them was rear-ended at a busy Leonardtown intersection.
The secondary crash occurred at approximately 2:58 p.m. at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Hollywood Road. According to officials, A68 was struck from behind while transporting the patient from an earlier collision involving a utility pole.
No injuries were reported in the second incident. The original patient was quickly transferred to another ambulance and continued to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. All other occupants involved in the crash declined medical care.

Northbound Point Lookout Road is temporarily shut down at the intersection as first responders cleared the scene and ensured the safety of the patient transfer. The northbound traffic will be diverted through the CSM campus parking lot.
The Maryland State Police continue to investigate the crash.
