
LUSBY, Md. – The Arick L. Lore American Legion Post 274 family, presented a $1,500 check to The Greenwell Foundation on Thursday, July 23. Fundraising Chairs, Justin Thomson and Lisa Dillon and Vice-Commander Jessica Hartmann, presented the check to Maria McDonald, Greenwell Foundation Executive Director, and Chris Davies, Veterans Program Director, to be used towards programs for Veterans and First Responders.
Greenwell Foundation provides experiences for veterans and First Responders through the natural beauty of Greenwell State Park, providing emotional connections through horse experiences, nature hikes, and learning new ways to unwind through yoga. They have hosted groups from McVets, Project Veteran House, local Sheriff’s Departments, and the Veterans Club at The College of Southern Maryland.
The American Legion Post 274 family holds fundraising projects throughout the year, providing donations to many non-profit organizations. Recent programs have included, Operation Care & Comfort, USA Cares, American Chestnut Land Trust, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Mr. Peanuts Frozen Chosen and the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
