suspect and assault

John P. Cameronย

Hollywood, MDย – On May 7, Maryland State Police Trooper Brandy Ditoto responded to Holly Tree Lane in Hollywood for a report of an assault in progress.ย

When Ditoto arrived on the scene, she observed a male screaming inside the residence and breaking items. The male was continuously cursing, yelling and making threatening statements.

Two individuals arrived at the residence and went inside and told their father that they were there. The father, identified as John P. Cameron, 55 of Hollywood, “came outside with a baseball bat screaming and walking towards them,” according to charging documents.ย

The two individuals stated that when they saw Cameron run out of the house screaming and holding a bat, they ran into the woods. One of the individuals stated that earlier that evening she was arguingย with Cameron. During the argument Cameron attempted to strangle her.

The victim also advised that during the evening she was washing the dishes and Cameron came over to her and stated, “she stabbedย him with a knife, and he was going to tell the police she did it,” according to charging documents.ย

The victim advised that she did not stab Cameron, and she did not see how he got a laceration on his right hand. Contact was made with Cameron, who had to be told to stop screaming becauseย he was disturbing the neighbors.ย

Cameron continued to scream and curse at the victims as he was walking to the police car. Cameron was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detentionย Center where he was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and second-degree assault.ย

Cameron has a scheduled hearing July 12 in District Court. Cameron faces a maximum jail sentenceย of 10 years and four months, and/or a maximum fine of $3,500.ย
