During the month of April 2006, St. Mary’s County Patrol Officers responded to a reported rape of a 10-year-old female.
The investigation was turned over to the Detectives of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
It was discovered that the suspect, Thomas Clements Wood, 43 of Mechanicsville, had sexually assaulted the 10-year-old female on more than one occasion, police stated.
A warrant was issued and Wood was arrested. He posted $50,000.00 bond and was released.
The bond was revoked shortly thereafter and he is currently incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
