This morning a confidential source informed The Bay Net that Public Works and other agencies were combing buses for a susbstance suspected to be Anthrax.

Captain Cusick of the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, confirmed to The Bay Net that a suspicious powder was being investigated on a local bus. โ€œThey are still checking it out, but it doesnโ€™t look like itโ€™s going to turn out to be anything [dangerous],โ€ said Cusick.

Tim Cameron, Director of Public Safety for St. Maryโ€™s County, told The Bay Net that the scare began at approximately 7 am this morning, Friday October 20, when a white powdered substance, feared to be Anthrax, was discovered on a county STS bus. At 9 am a Hazmat team was called in to investigate.

At noon today Tim Cameron told The Bay Net that the powder was still being tested but that it was not a noxious substance or drug. โ€œIt looks like it might be the kind of powdered substance used to clean dentures,โ€ Cameron said.
