BEL ALTON, Md. — “Seeing a cow in your driveway is unexpected, even though there are farms around us,” one Bel Alton neighbor said Tuesday as residents continued helping search for a loose cow wandering through the neighborhood.
The cow was first spotted Tuesday afternoon moving through yards, neighborhood streets and wooded areas, with neighbors quickly sharing photos and sightings across community social media pages to help owners track the animal’s location.
According to residents, the cow had recently been purchased from Hancock Family Farms. Neighbors said the animal appeared to be following a path back toward familiar surroundings and may be trying to find its way back home to the farm.
The cow’s new owners were out searching the neighborhood and nearby woods for the animal. Residents said the woods between neighborhoods are thick, with the cow last spotted deep in the wooded area connecting the communities.
As of the time of publication, the cow had still not been recovered. Residents throughout the area continued helping by keeping an eye out and sharing updates as the search remained ongoing.
