At 11:07 p.m. Jan. 12, volunteer firefighters and rescue squad members responded to a garage fire on Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick.
A total of six fire companies responded, bringing 49 firefighters, reports Maryland Deputy Fire Marshal John Tennyson.
The fire destroyed the garage and its contents, which included several ATV’s and hand tools. The apartment above sustained smoke and water damage.
The apartment occupant was displaced from the home and is being assisted by friends and family. The owner of the building is Belinda and Ronald Windsor.
Fire investigators say the fire started in the garage from an overloaded electric circuit, which ignited nearby combustibles.
