After some 12 years of abuse at the hands of a sexual predator, a female victim finally worked up the courage to report her abuse to authorities. Four weeks ago, the victim informed police that she had been being sexually abused for years. The Bureau of Criminal Investigations detectives went to work.
On July 27, the St. Mary’s County BCI detectives arrested James A. Dietz, 57 of California and charged him with the Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Third Degree Sexual Offense, and Engaging in a Continuing Course of Conduct with a Victim Under 14 Years of Age.
The charges were the result of an investigation into the abuse of an unrelated female. The crimes occurred over an approximate 12 year period, starting when the child was approximately 7 years old. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
