An arrest has been made and charges filed in the stabbing death of William L. “Will” Smith Jr., a graduate of the class of 2007 at Great Mills High School.
Andre J. Thompson, 19 of Worcester, Mass., pleaded not guilty in connection with the fatal stabbing that occurred on Sept. 21.
Police report that Thompson, who lives a short distance from where Smith was murdered, was one of several men involved in the altercation that led to the death of Smith outside an off-campus house party.
Thompson was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with armed assault with intent to murder, one count of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and one count of assault by means of a dangerous weapon.
The investigation is ongoing to determine whether or not others should be charged in the incident.
