On Jan. 17, firefighters responded to the 28000 block of Flora Porter Road in Mechanicsville for report of a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters from Mechanicsville and Hughesville discovered a 40 foot motor home and a two-story wood framed house were ablaze.

According to State Fire Marshalls, the fire originated near the exterior of the motor home. The preliminary cause of the blaze is believed to be arson. Investigators believe person(s) set fire to the motor home and placed an ignitable liquid in the home in an attempt to burn it as well.

The home was under construction at the time of the fire and was unoccupied. The fire inside the home burned itself out resulting in $20,000 in damage.
