On March 19 at 9:15 p.m. DFC J. Lord responded to Giant Food located in Lusby for an assault. The victim advised that while standing in line at the Red Box Movie Machine located inside the Giant, the man in front of him turned around and started arguing with him. The man then walked to his vehicle and returned to the victim’s location wielding an expandable baton. The victim hollered for someone to call police and the suspect fled. The victim’s girlfriend got the license plate number and police responded to the suspect’s home. The suspect was transported to Giant where the victim positively identified him as the man who had threatened him. DFC Lord arrested Wilfred Conan Mejias, 57 of Lusby, and charged him with openly wearing and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to cause injury to the victim and 2nd degree assault. No one was injured.
