PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Prince Frederick woman was charged after deputies located prescription medication that was not hers during an investigation near a posted no-trespassing area.

Nichole Lynn Ward, 38, of Prince Frederick, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was not cannabis and trespassing on posted property following an incident Tuesday, June 2, 2026, near Flagship Cinemas on Dares Beach Road.

The incident began around 9 a.m. when deputies responded to the area of Flagship Cinemas at 200 W. Dares Beach Road. Charging documents state a deputy had contact with Ward and developed probable cause to search her and her property.

During the search, deputies recovered a Reebok cross-body bag containing a pill bottle with pregabalin, a Schedule V controlled dangerous substance. The prescription was confirmed to belong to another person, according to court documents.

Ward was advised of her Miranda rights and indicated she understood them. During questioning, Ward denied knowing why the bag was on the ground and denied placing it there.

While reviewing Ward’s phone with her permission to look for a contact number, investigators observed a message from another person asking, “Did you get the bag.” The same message thread included a voice memo, but charging documents state the memo disappeared after two minutes and could not be reviewed.

Court documents also state Ward had been observed walking out of a wooded area next to Flagship Cinemas, where a posted no-trespassing sign was located.

Ward was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and later released on recognizance on June 2, 2026.

A trial is set for July 17 in Calvert County District Court.
