On September 16, at approximately 12:20 a.m., deputes responded to Chapman Drive in Lexington Park, for a report of an assault. 

Upon arrival they were met by the victim who report he was in a verbal dispute with Joseph Allen Milburn, III, 22 of no fixed address, which escalated into a physical assault when Milburn choked him and then used a knife to cut his ear. 

Milburn fled in a white, older model Ford Maverick.  The victim was bleeding from the ear and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for medical treatment.  A short time later, deputies located Milburn operating the suspect vehicle on Great Mills Road. 

Deputies stopped the vehicle, arrested Milburn and charged him with first and second-degree assault.
