Attention all Scouts! The Calvert Library Prince Frederick is offering two workshops this month to help you get your book badges.
For the Girl Scouts (Juniors and Fly-ups) and interested tweens, the Books Badge Workshop will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Workshop participants will learn about proper book care, book-related careers, and the many types of books available in this age of ever-changing technology. The workshop also includes a tour of the library and an overview of library services and programs. The activities will complete the requirements for the Books badge for Junior Girl Scouts. Linda Buckley, a Girl Scout volunteer and a public services librarian at Calvert Library, will be the workshop presenter. Participants should be between the ages of 8 and 13.
The Boy Scouts workshop will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Participants at this evening event will complete many of the requirements for the Reading Merit badge and must bring a Scout Master approved Blue Card. Merit Badge Counselor and Public Services Librarian, Leslie Bonner will present this workshop for Boy Scouts and other interested participants ages 11-19 . Activities will include a library tour, catalog & resources training, computer use, internet research, log reviews, group discussions, and discuss service hours options. Please bring your library card or ID.

Badges will not be distributed at the workshop, but each participant will receive signed documentation of the completed activities to provide to his or her troop leader.
