The case was set to be tried in Prince George’s County during December and was settled shortly before the trial started according to Dorsey and his team. On Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, the lives of eight people and their families were forever changed. For it was on this date that a box truck delivering furniture for Marlo Furniture caused a horrific accident involving three additional vehicles in Benedict, MD. Both of the occupants of one of the vehicles tragically died at the scene. The other drivers and their passengers were all flown to various emergency centers throughout the state. The scene was so hectic and chaotic that some of the victims were flown out by helicopters from Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Most of the claims against Marlo and its driver were resolved relatively quickly, but suit had to be filed against the at-fault driver and Marlo on August 29, 2014, to resolve the final driver’s claim. Following the accident, she had been flown to PG Hospital Center to care for her most urgent needs and stabilize her condition. She was then transferred to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. What followed was a long and arduous recovery with multiple surgeries and permanent disability. Her recovery will never be complete as she continues to experience various symptoms and has been told that these are permanent.
