WALDORF, Md. — Bad Axe Waldorf announced it has closed effective immediately after approximately 2 1/2 years in business, according to a statement released Wednesday, April 8, 2026, on the company’s Facebook page.

“So before the Charles County Peanut Gallery starts with their own narrative, lol here y’all go,” the business wrote in its announcement. “After 2.5 unforgettable years, we’re closing the doors at Bad Axe Waldorf, effective today.”

The axe-throwing venue said the closure follows changes tied to new ownership of the property.

“With new ownership of the property, our landlord has decided to move in a different direction, one that doesn’t align with the live bands, events, and experiences we offered beyond axe throwing that made Bad Axe what it was,” the statement said.

The business said its goal was always to create a space centered on community connection.

“And if you’ve ever been here, you already know… that energy wasn’t by accident. It was intentional. It was for the people,” the statement continued.

Bad Axe Waldorf also reflected on the community atmosphere it worked to build during its time in Waldorf.

“We built a space where the community could actually show up, celebrate, vibe, connect, and feel something,” the business said. “And judging by the support over the last 2.5 years… we did exactly that.”

The statement also noted that differences in vision contributed to the closure.

“Unfortunately, not every vision is shared, and that’s okay,” the business said. “We just believe in creating spaces where culture, music, and community aren’t limited.”

No additional information has been announced about what may replace the business at the location or whether the owners plan to reopen elsewhere. Bad Axe Waldorf, an indoor axe-throwing entertainment venue, was located at 1140 A Smallwood Drive in Waldorf.
