Sometime between Oct. 7 and Oct. 28, two suspects forced entry into a residence on a historic site in the 7700 block of Ann Harbor Drive in Port Tobacco.

The suspects broke a kitchen window and stole antique silver items, most of which they later sold to the Apple Basket antique shop in Mechanicsville. One of the suspects used his driverโ€™s license during the transaction; Sheriffโ€™s officers subsequently identified him and the other suspect.

Russell Andrew Melvin, 20 of La Plata, and Stephen James Adams, 23 of Port Tobacco, were charged with first and third-degree burglary, theft of property valued at more than $500 and malicious destruction of property.

They were released pending court appearances. All of the stolen property was recovered from the antiques store and Adamsโ€™s residence.
